Father and son pilot duo soar together

First Officer Nicholas “Nic” Ramirez was born to fly. Inspired by his father, Capt. Esty Ramirez, who served as a pilot in the Air Force, Nic’s love for aviation started early — whether pointing at planes in the sky or making LEGOs “fly.”

Esty, a seasoned pilot, eventually became one of Nic’s flight instructors, teaching his son the ropes. Today, father and son are living out their “American Dream” with Esty as a captain and Nic as a first officer for American Airlines.

Esty celebrates his 25th anniversary with American this year, while Nic approaches his second anniversary in August. With more flights together on the horizon, the sky’s the limit for this extraordinary duo.
