Fan-tastic flight! easyJet hosts ultimate Eurovision fan flight to Basel

easyJet, the Official Airline of the Eurovision Song Contest, has taken the excitement of Eurovision to the skies to mark the start of this year’s most iconic song contest.

An unforgettable celebration flight, fuelled by glitter, glamour, and over 75 Eurovision superfans who were gifted the flight of a lifetime to Basel, the host city for the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest, took off from London Gatwick yesterday afternoon and saw superfans surprised by Eurovision-themed festivities throughout their journey.

On arrival at London Gatwick, fans were whisked to a dedicated Eurovision check-in and each given exclusive goodie bags, including scoring paddles, luggage tags and sunglasses, as well as access to a glittering photo booth before boarding.

The excitement continued after take-off, with easyJet’s Sky High Orange Runway talent competition – a high-flying homage to Eurovision, exclusively hosted by drag star and Eurovision aficionado Ginger Johnson.

In true Eurovision fashion, the Sky High Orange Runway featured three top-flight performers who took centre stage to strut their stuff down the aisle to dazzle and delight by showcasing their talent. The performers, who are all students from London-based performing and creative arts academy City Academy and devoted Eurovision fans, were hand-selected following a rigorous audition process.

Elaine Mc Adam representing Ireland sang her heart out to ‘Mama Mia’ accompanied by Irish dancing, while Anita Hammerton-Reid representing the UK treated superfans onboard to her very own rendition of ‘It’s Raining Men’, and Lilly Nagy, representing Germany sang ‘I Will Survive’.

Onboard superfans became the judges at 35,000 feet and awarded Douze Points to worthy acts. The winning performance by Elaine Mc Adam was crowned mid-flight and awarded an exclusive trophy, celebrating the best of easyJet’s talent.

Throughout the flight, customers also took home surprise giveaways, including limited-edition easyJet Eurovision merchandise.

Once in Basel, superfans were welcomed exclusively by Lumo, the mascot for Basel 2025, who has been spreading the spirit of the Eurovision Song Contest throughout the host city to locals and visitors.

“I am delighted to be taking to the skies with easyJet to celebrate all things Eurovision. I’ve performed in just about every kind of place imaginable, but doing a gig at 35,000 feet was a new one on me!”

easyJet is the largest airline in Basel and will fly over 47,000 visitors from across Europe during this year’s contest into Basel Mulhouse Freiburg Airport, where the live semi-finals and Grand Final will take place on 13, 15, and 17 May. The airline will operate 6,000 more seats to and from Basel compared to the same time last year.
