Stairway to heaven: Led Zeppelin Boeing 720 Starship. Where is it now?

The Starship, a former United Airlines Boeing 720, was renamed by its owners (Ward Sylvester and pop star Bobby Sherman), refitted and leased to Super group on tour. Swivel chairs, a wet bar, and a 3/4-inch Sony U-matic video player and television were installed (the plane’s library contained films from Deep Throat to the Marx Brothers), and a “privacy” bedroom was added to the rear of the plane.

Shaggy blankets, champagne, spaceships, and even President Nixon’s Air Force One. Two stewardesses on the plane, $2,500 an hour.

Sumit Singh, Simple Flying:

Full of drama
It won’t come as a surprise that there was plenty of theatrics amid all the buzz. For instance, Led Zeppelin’s drummer, John Bonham, once tried to open the aircraft’s door while flying over Kansas City “because he had to pee,” according to a flight attendant named Suzee.
