Aurigny celebrates young Alderney artist’s passion for aviation: Marking Dornier retirement

Aurigny welcomed a talented young aviation enthusiast from Alderney to Guernsey for a special day of creativity and inspiration, celebrating his artistic talent by drawing the Dornier 228NG to commemorate its approaching retirement.

Seven-year-old Stefan, who has a love of aeroplanes and art, recently shared photos of his aircraft drawings with Aurigny via social media. His remarkable attention to detail and imagination impressed the airline’s team, who were keen to encourage his enthusiasm and nurture his creative potential.

Aurigny believes inspiring young people to explore and develop their interests in aviation, whether through art, engineering, flying, or storytelling, is an important part of supporting the next generation of islanders. In recognition of Stefan’s talent, Aurigny invited him to Guernsey for the day to take part in a unique artistic experience.

During his visit, Stefan, ‘The Apprentice’, met professional Guernsey artist and teacher Rob Sweeney, ‘The Artist’, who worked with him to help refine his skills and explore new techniques. Together, they created a special artwork of Aurigny’s iconic Dornier aircraft.

The Dornier 228NG has played a significant role in Aurigny’s history and in connecting the Channel Islands. Its final flight will take place on 12 February 2026.
