A visit to the Eternal City should be on the bucket list of anyone with even the slightest interest in fashion, the arts, architecture, religion, food and history. Rome is all that and so much more. Once you have seen the Colosseum, the Forum and the Pantheon, Rome still have so much more to offer.

And best of all, the Italian capital is actually quite walkable. It’s easy to explore and discover the city’s many beautiful piazzas and local markets.

A perfect excursion and path to get to know a bit of the real Rome is by checking out the Monti neighborhood near the Colosseum. Monti has winding cobblestone streets lined with beautifully colored residential buildings and several small piazzas with cafés, restaurants and small, local shops. Monti is a popular place to live among Rome’s creatives and folks from all over the city come to browse the vintage jewelry and fashion apparel on sale at the weekend market of Mercato Monti. Keep in mind though, that Monti is just one of Rome’s many many neighborhoods worth spending a few hours in. My personal tip is to allow yourself to get a little lost while on your trek around this amazing city.

Must sees: The Vatican | Roman Forum | Panthenon | Colosseum | St Peters Basilica
